OilCan Drive Website

Amidst all the other things I've been doing with the OilCan Drive project I've also been playing around with the idea of the OCD website.

I created this mock-up a few weeks ago, made all the buttons and links I could think of that a working band might need, and embedded a streaming blog on the front page. The blog would feature each member of the band checking in from time to time and give fans a reason to keep coming back to the website. And, because I thought a simple embedded blog on the front page might be a bit boring I created a "skin" around the blog to make it look like a digital pad reader(something that combines an I-phone and a guitar pedal) that someone from the futuristic world of OilCan Drive might use.

I also designed the page so the main image of the band could be easily swapped in and out for new art, keeping the main page fresh without the work it might take to redesign the website every few months.

So, what do you think? Should I keep working on it, design something new, post the web page up even though none of the links work at the moment? The blog is working and the band has been checking in from time to time so something would be there. So, let me know. I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

If I understand the choices, I'd wait until the links work and then post the site!

Wow, cool! I love the blog idea, and it looks great the way you've got it embedded. Yeah, that's friggen great, can't wait to see it for real and do some exploring.

I think the only thing that I would like to see added (and I know that this is probably impossible) but a webcomic link :)

Not so easy to reply because you'll finally have a lot of web to animate, and it takes time and regular commitment.

However, as a real entity, OCD needs its own portal, so I think you're obliged to give the team its own structure. But as Rob said, it will be better if the links work, the contrary could be anti-productive (is it english what I say ? : /....)

In the other hand, each stuff which can generate traffic to your different activities is good, so, it's a good idea anyway.

I have a feeling if I wait until the website is complete with every link working that I may never get it done and up.

So, we'll see how I feel. Right now the OCD project involves the comics book, art, album of music and the website. It's all a little overwhelming and I'm kind of mad at myself that no one part of the project is even near completion.

I have a fear this thing will never get done!
