Steady-Cam Test

It's been a busy day with client work taking up most of my time. But, I did want to share a video test my friend Brian did with a steady cam rig he built himself earlier this week. It looks really great to me and, while it still bobs about a bit, it is much smoother than simply grabbing your camera and running around with it in your hand.

Not bad for a twenty six dollar investment at Home Depot.

Now I just need to write some more scenes for the short film idea and we can start using some of the gear Brian has built.

Have a great day!

Damn! that thing really works, are you just running or are you on a bike for those shots?

Jeff,

The idea basically came from this site I found:

Brian built the thing a little bit different but his seems to work great. Both tests were done with him walking, and sometimes running, around his block.

Weird that some plumbers pipe and a weight on the bottom would make it so much smoother.
